I didn't enjoy reading this book at all. I made myself read it until the very last word looking for something to like about it. I found Kemal Bey's obsession pathetic. A very weak character who had too much time and money.

This book did not compel me, it obsessed me. Even when I thought I could not spend another moment with Kemal Bey's rationalizations, I knew I must continue so I could understand Fusun. Pamuk's literary genius is placing his most intriguging character just one step out of reach and leaving the reader returning, continually, hoping to grasp their soul.

I wanted to sift through the middle pages of the book thinking how Kemal Bey, the protagonist can go crazy over a single girl virtually wasting his life. Orhan made me to ride through the jungle of negativism and despair which I was always keep away from.
